What is Body Mass Index?
Body Mass Index (or BMI) is a measure of body fat as applied to both adult men and women based on their height and weight. It is a main indicator used by the medical profession to determine whether an individual is overweight, underweight or at a healthy weight level. It's a standard used regardless of age, gender or build. A BMI of between 18.6 and 24.9 is considered normal ,below 18.6 and individual is considered underweight and above 24.5 overweight, obese or extremely obesity. Table 1 & 2 below provides you with a guideline a guideline.
